Tecali is a town known because its Onix mines where the local people get colored Onix stones to create singular handcrafts by carving and polishing the local stone. The town itself has one the first franciscan convents built during the first years after the arrival of the first twelve franciscan missionaries from Spain. Now the convent is not operational but you can apreciate the ruins of it.
